Employee Highlight: Riley Bettinger – Project Coordinator
WHERE WERE YOU BEFORE YOU CAME ON THE TEAM?
I’ve worked at CPM for about nine months now. Before that, I was over at Coast Real Estate Services in Everett. I’ve been working in real estate ever since I graduated from college in 2012. It’s always fascinated me, especially on the commercial side. When I started here at CPM, I thought it would be a great challenge to get on the other side of things and learn the other side of the process, with pre-construction, build-outs, and tenant improvements.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT YOUR JOB?
My favorite part of my job is the people I work with. They make coming to work every day a lot of fun. I also love working with our sub-contractors and building owners. It’s great to work to provide them with the best solution possible to whatever problem it is that they’re facing.
WHAT DOES YOUR ROLE ON THIS TEAM CONSIST OF?
As a project coordinator here at CPM, one of my main responsibilities is soliciting the bid process. When we have a new job, we use a lot of different software to be able to compile different bids from the market. When we win a job and we get into construction, I’m able to help with the subcontracting process, whether that’s working with superintendents or project managers, I’m making sure everything is getting set up for success.
WHAT IS IT LIKE SEEING PROJECT PLANS IN PERSON VS. ON PAPER?
One of my favorite things as a project coordinator here is to step foot on a job site for the first time, see something with your own eyes, and match that to a floor plan. Sometimes you’re with subcontractors and it’s great to be able to walk that together, take photos, look around, get a feel for the space. It’s a great experience looking at that floor plan and then stepping on to the job site to be able to set our subcontractors up for success with the photos, with the square footages, with all the details that we’re able to compile, to try and make the business owner’s dream come true.
WHAT IS ON OF YOUR FAVORITE PROJECTS TO DATE?
My favorite project to date here at CPM is probably Juicy Power Yoga in Mount Lake Terrace. It was one of my first projects that I was able to start with the bid process and then see it through to actual construction. It was really cool to see what it looked like before and then what it looked like after. That was a very unique, very fun project to be a part of.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES?
Outside of CPM, first and foremost, I love basketball. I’m a basketball coach. I also play a little bit of golf, not very well, but when it’s warm out I do like to play golf. A lot of sports, a lot of friends, and a lot of family.
WHAT IS ONE OF THE MOST VALUABLE THINGS YOU’VE LEARNED AT CPM?
Probably one of the most valuable things I’ve learned while being here at CPM is the value of effective communication. Communication is so key to what we do here at CPM, so to be able to effectively communicate with your coworkers and whoever you’re working with, is crucial. And I’ve learned that very, very quickly here at CPM.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE CULTURE AT CPM?
Everyone here in the office is always looking out for you. And even though there’s a lot going on, and everyone’s busy, at the end of the day, they have your back. There’s a lot of love and a lot of care in this building.
WHAT PART OF CPM’S VALUES DO YOU IDENTIFY WITH MOST?
Another big thing is the community. We are a general contractor, and even though we aren’t always here in Snohomish, we love being able to help the community because that’s what we’re all in it for. At the end of the day doing the real estate, and doing the tenant improvements, and the construction, you’re making the community better, you’re helping people achieve goals, and I love that passion. We’re all in it together.
